I have the honour to recommend Mr. C. B.

Robertson, Architect, and Mr. A. Nicol, Engineer,

Public Works Department, for promotion, in that order,

to two posts of Executive Engineer, Public Works Department, one of which is vacant by the retirement of Mr. H. C. Lowick on the 29th of September, 1937,

and the other of which will become vacant by the

retirement of Mr. A. Anderson on the 4th of April,

1938. Mr. Robertson is at present drawing salary

at the rate of £1060 per annum and Mr. Nicol at the rate of £1090 per annum in the time scale £550-£1150 per annum, and on their promotion they would go on

the time scale of £1180-£1300 per annum in

accordance with the suggestion in the fourth paragraph of your air mail despatch No.221 of the

12th of June, 1937.

There is only one other officer, Mr. E.S. Carter, senior on the list of Engineers and Architects to Messrs. Robertson and Nicol, but Mr. Carter will be seconded to the Railway Department next year during the Manager's leave, and hopes to be granted
